    Alexander Russo is Ordinary Professor in the Program in Media and Communication Studies and the Department of History and Anthropology. He received his Ph.D. and M.A. in American Civilization from Brown University and his B.A. in American Studies and History from Wesleyan University.

    Dr. Russo is the author of Points on the Dial: Golden Age Radio Beyond the Networks (Durham, NC: Duke University Press, 2010), He has also written various articles and book chapters on the technology and cultural form of radio, television, and podcasting, the history of music and society, and media infrastructures. His current book project examines the cybernetic origins of radio formats in the mid-twentieth century.

    Professor Russo teaches a classes in contemporary and historical media. These include: Introduction to Media Studies, Media and History, Critical Methods in Media Studies, Television and American Culture, Podcasting Studies, and Popular Music History.
